It is quite easier to form the "question tag" of a sentence. If the sentence given is an affirmative one, find the auxiliary verb from it first. Then add "not" in its spoken form (abbreviated form ) with that auxiliary verb, and finally add the subject and put a question mark. We can understand this through the following examples.
Examples-:
He is a novelist, isn't he?
(is+not+he=isn't he)
I am a poor man, ain't I?
(am+not+I=ain't I)
Examples-:
She studies well, doesn't she?
They eat tapioca, don't they?
She had a bicycle, hadn't she?
Ravi runs before the dog, doesn't he?
Manju performs folk dance, doesn't she?
Augustine was an actor, wasn't he?
In a negative sentence, there is no need to add 'not 'in the question tag.
Examples-:
He is not a novelist, is he?
I am not a rich man, am I?
She doesn't study well, does she?
They don't eat Paratta, do they?
She had not a car, had she?
Ravi does not run after the dog, does he?
Manju does not perform Break Dance, does she?
Augustine was not a director, was he?
