In life, we cannot answer "yes" to all questions. Sometimes we have to say "no".We cannot always make declarations. We may be in need of saying things in a negative sense.
Look at the following example.
He is a rich man. (Affirmative)
He is not a rich man(Negative)
Like opposite words, meanings also change here. We use the Auxiliary Verb "is" succeeded by "not " to make the sentence "negative".
It will not always be possible if the Auxiliary Verb is hidden.
Example-:
She writes letters.
How can we form the negative of such a sentence? First, find out the Auxiliary Verb which is hidden in the verb, i.e does, then split the verb as does + write. Add "not" to the now clear Auxillary Verb. The "negative" of "affirmative"
, we get:-
She writes letters. -> She does not write letters.
